Environmental & Sustainability Statement
Last Updated: 7 May 2026
Subnet Calc Limited is committed to minimising the environmental impact of our operations and technology choices.
Our Approach
Subnet Calc is a cloud-native SaaS application. We have no physical offices, data centres, or hardware. Our environmental footprint is determined primarily by the cloud infrastructure we use and our operational decisions.
Cloud Infrastructure
Subnet Calc runs entirely on Microsoft Azure, which has made industry-leading sustainability commitments:
- Carbon neutral since 2012 — Microsoft has been carbon neutral across its global operations since 2012.
- 100% renewable energy by 2025 — Microsoft committed to matching 100% of its energy consumption with renewable energy purchases.
- Carbon negative by 2030 — Microsoft aims to remove more carbon than it emits by 2030.
- Water positive by 2030 — Microsoft is investing in water replenishment and conservation projects globally.
For more details, see Microsoft's Environmental Sustainability page.
Efficient Architecture
Our technology choices are designed to minimise resource consumption:
- Serverless computing — Subnet Calc uses a serverless architecture, meaning compute resources are allocated only when requests are being processed. There are no always-on servers consuming energy during idle periods.
- Right-sized infrastructure — we deploy only in regions where our users are, avoiding unnecessary global replication.
- Efficient data storage — we use storage solutions optimised for our data patterns without the overhead of over-provisioned infrastructure.
- No physical distribution — Subnet Calc is delivered entirely via the web. There is no physical packaging, shipping, or media.
Remote-First Operations
- No commuting — our development and support team at Inflecto Systems Ltd operates remotely, eliminating commute-related emissions.
- Digital-only communication — all business operations, support, and collaboration are conducted digitally.
Continuous Improvement
We are committed to:
- Monitoring our cloud resource utilisation and optimising where possible
- Evaluating new Azure sustainability features and tools as they become available
- Considering environmental impact when making technology and vendor decisions
